OUR STORY

Jumbo’s is a family-owned restaurant that has proudly served the fine people of Listowel since Dermot O’Mahony first opened our doors in 1983. As of 2018, Dermot has officially retired, although he can still be found happily working the grill during busy periods. Damien and Jade have grown up in the business and are delighted to carry on the Jumbo’s tradition. We are privileged to have a team of dedicated and welcoming staff, some of whom have been with us for thirty years and more.

We have been overjoyed that our team has been recognised with awards in recent years, most notably receiving recognition at the Irish Hospitality Awards for Ireland’s Best Family Dining in 2019 and 2022.

We are very involved in our community, and we are delighted to support all of the events and festivals that take place in our town and local area. In recent years, we have participated in local lip sync, dancing and cube events, and have sponsored a great deal many more. In 2018, in support of Listowel Visual Arts Week we recreated the Last Supper in a photograph, and invited our customers to take photos recreating other famous artworks; in true Listowel fashion, locals threw themselves into it 100% and sent in some amazingly accurate entries. Listowel was named Ireland’s Tidiest Town in 2018 and we have been proud supporters of the Listowel Tidy Towns Committee over the years, and are very proud to keep our part of town tidy. After busy weekend nights our staff go out and clean our street of rubbish to do our part. We do ask that our customers also are mindful to dispose of their waste responsibly.
